Free Wi-Fi Sweeps Las Vegas, From Pools To Nightclubs

MGM Resorts, parent of nine huge Las Vegas resort hotels, just announced it is unveiling what it calls the hospitality industry’s largest Wi-Fi network – and it’s free.

I’ve written here before about why paying for Wi-Fi access in hotels and resorts is one of the top complaints for frequent travelers, and I couldn’t agree more. It amazes me that some places still charge for it, and the irony is that these are usually luxury and high-priced properties that are nickel and diming their customers while pretty much every Motel 6 and Holiday Inn Express includes it in the room rate (some defenders argue that it costs the property in both hardware and ongoing service to provide Wi-Fi, and that’s true but hardly relevant – changing sheets, providing hot water, TVs and electricity all cost the hotel but are expected services included in the room rate).
